This pandemic, are you gonna break or bounce?

Before this pandemic happened, I planned to do so many things and really thought of doing them, like, small business plans, writing another book, updating my blog, de-cluttering my stuffs, and so on. But my usual excuse for not doing any of them is either ‘I don’t have time’ or ‘I am too exhausted from work.’

When we were placed on forced leave and work from home setup, I spent the first few days overthinking what’s going to happen next – to me, to my family, to my career, to my businesses? The next thing I know, I’m burning at least 20 hours a day binging on horror movies, Korean dramas, and some series.

It has been my daily life for the first two weeks until my friend sent me a link to an ebook by Bo Sanchez, titled “Ready to rebound: 8 actions to a better you after this CoVid-19 crisis.” (You can download it for free here.)

It was mind-blowing. I asked myself, how can this man write a book in a little span of time? The answer? While I was busy finishing one series after another, he was busy writing a book.

I read the book and the first thing he said hit me bull’s eye: DON’T WASTE THIS LOCKDOWN. Could he be talking to me? After finishing the book I realized that all of us had frozen physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially the moment this pandemic hit hard. No one is exempted, not the poor not the rich, no good nor bad. It is always a matter of how you respond to this dilemma.

“This quarantine can break or build you, depending on the repeated actions you will take.”

Bo Sanchez

The importance of repeated actions

He mentioned “repeated actions” because if there is one thing I’ve learned, consistency is the key to a better path because success does not happen overnight.

As for me, I started to check on that ever-growing to-do list I kept delaying for so long because “I do not have time.” I realized, despite the many unpleasantries happening around the world, there are still a lot of good things out there. It’s just a matter of where you’re looking at.

Let me end this with the question Bo had asked on the book: When you get out of this situation will you be the person who says “My greatest achievement is watching 57 Netflix movies” or “I reached level 1867 of LoL” or “I binge-watched eight seasons of Game of Thrones”?

Or will you be the person who says “I used this difficult season to grow in my personal, emotional, professional, and family life; I am now ready to rebound!”?

Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with watching, playing, and relaxing during this time because probably that’s what you need at some point. But it’s so much better if aside from those recreational activities, you do things that you know would add value to your life.

It will be a win-win, isn’t it?

Let’s strive to make the world a better place during and after this pandemic by aiming to become a better version of ourselves. There are a lot of free courses through webinars or on Youtube that may help you get started.

Now the question is… Are you gonna break; Or will you gonna bounce?
