Do not spend your life reacting to everything

Everything we own will be lost in death, and everyone we know will cease to be known. There is no point in getting bothered by our past mistakes; there is no point in being emotionally troubled by what the future holds.

Not every word written should be believed, and not every word spoken should be listened to. Attend only to those that build, and graciously disregard those that destroy. Some people can twist the truth about you, and even your purest intention can be turned against you. When someone tells the untruth or digs a past that isn’t you anymore, do not react. In Lau Tzu’s words…

“Have the patience to wait till the mud settles and the water is clear.”

Do not spend your life reacting to others. Do not waste your time defending yourselves. Time reveals the hidden, and God sees what the human eye is blind to.

Be patient. A person who wears a smile in the middle of chaos is like a singular rose in a thorny forest. It doesn’t just look beautiful; it heals the broken.

Trust your guts. Do what is right. Forgive unnecessarily. It is better to be remembered as someone who erred on the side of sympathy, for no argument in this world has ever won against the miseries of a proud heart.
