On July 15, 2020, at exactly 12:51:27 AM (UAE Time), another historic event is about to happen. It will be the launching of the highly anticipated UAE’s space mission to Mars. This will be the first-ever Arab mission to the Red Planet and it will be called “Emirates Mars Mission”.
Most people may think this is not a far fetched idea especially with an over-achieving leadership from this country. It was only late last year when the first Arab, Hassan Al Mansoori, went into space. Now the UAE will be launching its own space mission. But what strikes me the most is the purpose of this mission. Aside from being a ground-breaking event, this mission also aims to change people’s perspectives about the ‘Arabs’ with the “Hope Mars Mission”.
“Hope is more than just a word. Hope has become a probe that carries with it our ambitions for Mars and beyond.”
After the launch, the #HopeProbe will take seven months to enter the Martian orbit. It is expected to reach the Red Planet in the first quarter of 2021.
