Planning your trip to the Dubai Expo 2020 site? Here are some useful information when using the Dubai Metro going to Expo 2020 site.
Over the weekend, I went to the Dubai Expo 2020 site with my wife using the Metro. Parked my car in Mall of the Emirates on a Saturday, had lunch, and then waited for a little while for the temperature outside to come down.
Dubai Expo 2020 site is located far away from the main city of Dubai. Getting there comes with many options, using the Dubai Metro, riding the Dubai Bus, taking a taxi, or bringing your own car. But the most comfortable and economical way is taking the Dubai Metro. Here’s why.
If you are already on the Red Line, you can actually catch the Expo 2020 bound train and there is no need to transfer. From our experience, Mall of the Emirates Station is on the Red Line, so we never needed to leave our seats. It took about 17 minutes to reach the Expo 2020 site from Jebel Ali Station.
Once we got out of the station, we can already see the iconic Al Wasl Dome from afar where the spectacular opening of the expo 2020 was held.
But first, there are several checks awaiting. Expo2020 ushers are scattered doing pre-checks for tickets and PCR/Vaccination cards. We were then directed to go through the bag inspection through a machine like the one you see at the airport.
Note: We were allowed to bring water inside.
After going through all the checks for 10mins, we saw the information kiosk and asked for a map. With 190+ country pavilions, Expo 2020 site will really require multiple visits. We actually planned to visit the Philippine pavilion however based on the map it was located all the way to the upper right corner of Jubilee. Since we are also planning to complete all 191 pavilions in 6 months, we have decided to put the Philippine pavilion on our future visits.
We completed the first five African Pavilions closest to the Al Wasl dome within 3 hours. My experience was like visiting a small museum showcasing each country’s culture. They also have information on the natural resources available for investment opportunities. All in all, it was good but I am now more looking forward to seeing the bigger pavilions like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which we could already see close by from Al Wasl Dome.
FYI, UAE pavilion requires an advance booking to enter via the Expo App. I would highly recommend exploring the App ahead of your visit to avoid inconvenience.
By the way, how much is the Metro fare?
The maximum one-way fare is set at 7.50 dirhams depending on where you will be coming from using the Silver Nol Card. That makes only 15 dirhams for a roundtrip journey regardless of whether you are coming from Mall of the Emirates station, Deira, or the Dubai Mall.
