Dubai stores to charge 25 fils for plastic bags

Today, consumers are paying more if they want to use reusable bags (sold at every supermarket cashier).

Moving forward, Dubai will introduce a 25-fil charge on single-use plastic bags starting July 1 this year.

The Executive Council of Dubai approves the policy limiting single-use plastic bags as a step towards enhancing environmental sustainability.

The policy covers restaurants, pharmacies, groceries, and even online store deliveries.
