Dubai Run 2022 – 193,000 runners a world record

Dubai Run 2022 has just recorded the largest fun run event in the world, according to its organizers. And truly what an amazing event and I am very happy to be a part of that historical event. Here are the top highlights of the event to my personal account.

Experience

Last year, Dubai Run event had 146,000 participants, while for this year, there were 193,000 runners who joined. That is a huge 30% increase in attendance from last year’s event. With picturesque buildings left and right, everyone on several occasions paused and took some good photos with Dubai skyscrapers as their background.

Sponsors

The major sponsors of this year’s event were Mai Dubai, Sun & Sand Sports, Etisalat by e&, Emaar and Fitbit, official Partners AW Rostamani and Emirates Airlines. Starting from online registration, everything was absolutely free and even came with free dry-fit shirts and bibs. Mai Dubai water were very generous to provide unlimited supply of bottled waters on every few kilometres stops. The free bottled water provided were even zero sodium type which they say is healthier.

Commute

The commute was really pleasant as the event was scheduled on a Sunday where parking is free within Dubai. Participants had more options where to park their cars without worrying of RTA hourly parking rates. Many took the metro for extra convenience. There were several ushers guiding the participants starting all the way from Emirates Towers metro station.

Overall

Being able to run in the middle of Sheikh Zayed road with its majestic structures made me realize how blessed I am to be living in a beautiful place like Dubai. It was truly an outstanding event and kudos for a very job well done to its organizers.

To end, I have captured an inspiring tweet from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, recognizing the people who were there in the event.

P.S. Funny story, me and my friends did complete the 5km route, however, since we took a lot of time taking pictures, we missed finding the finish line as it was already removed by the time we reached the end. Hahaha!!
